The Paper Hoarder

Aydan’s 1st Birthday!

Baby Aydan celebrated his 1st birthday this weekend and I made this alien-inspired card for him.  Card size is 5x7.  I used a nice silver paper for the background, Cuttlebuged a star print on it.  Happy Birthday sentiment comes from Create-a-Critter cartridge.

Chevron Birthday

Yes, my obsession with chevron continues.  I made this Happy Birthday card for my friend Angela.  Chevron patterned background paper and then sentiment cut using Birthday Bash cartridge.

Dino Birthday

It was my neighbour’s son’s birthday and I made this cute dino birthday card for him.  The dino guy is from the Boys Will Be Boys. He’s so fat and cute:

Dad’s Birthday

I made this Asian themed card for my dad’s birthday.  The koi is from the Pagoda cartridge and then I used a Cuttlebug folder for the background.

It’s kinda manly and nothing says happy birthday like a koi fish.

Happy Birthday, Rebecca!

A purple cupcake themed card to celebrate Rebecca’s birthday:

I used a cupcake Cuttlebug folder, happy birthday sentiment and a black ribbon for embellishment.  Simple but cute.

Cara’s Bday

My friend Cara always has a themed birthday party every year.  This year’s theme - dead celebrities.

Here she is dressed like I Love Lucy:

I had a hard time coming up with a costume idea.  My DH hates dressing up but I thought of a pretty easy costume for hime - Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter.  He wouldn’t need much more than khaki shorts and shirt.  My sister suggested that I go as the crocodile but since the party’s theme was DEAD celebrities, I decided to go as the stingray that killed Steve Irwin.

But now I would need a stingray costume.  I trolled the Internet looking for ideas, called my super crafty friend Lorrie and asked for help.

I ended up buying a $10 fleece blanket from Walmart and Lorrie helped me sew it into this:

It only took about 3 hours and her living/dining room was covered in blue fluff!

Here we are in costumed glory:

I plan on recycling this costume for Halloween.  We put a lot of work into it!

Oh, and here’s bday card I made Cara (not stingray themed):

Poor Ginger

My brother-in-law is a ginger.  He recently posted this article about a ginger seal pup that was abandoned by his mom.

I decided to make him a ginger seal birthday card:

Bright Birthday

Spring is on its way.  I made this bright coloured birthday card for a friend!

I cut the cake using the Cricut Lite cartridge Celebrate with a Flourish.  For some reason, my machine does not like to cut flourishes.  It took over 5-6 tries before I could get it right.  The flourish would keep tearing in the paper…so frustrating!  Final result looked good, just took a couple tries to get there.

Happy Birthday, Amanda!

My friend Amanda visited on the weekend, which also happened to be her birthday weekend.  It’s not very often we get to celebrate her birthday so I made her this card.  I thought about sending it but figured I would just give it to her in person.

Happy Birthday to…me!

Yay, it was my birthday this month and since I always make cards for other people’s birthdays, it’s so nice when people make cards for me.

First, a card from my friend Melissa.  Melissa is the only person living close enough to me with a Cricut machine.  She got her machine shortly after she tried mine and she badgered her boyfriend so much that he bought it for as a gift to shut her up!

Check out this sweet cupcake bday card that she made for me.  Love the glittery black paper she used!

Next, a card from my friend Kaarina.  She has a tonne of stamping supplies and when I first got my Cricut, she came over with all her stamps and we had a Crafternoon.  She made this card using my Cricut and the Celebrations cartridge:

My friend Ellen made this fishy card:

Was this her inspiration:

And of course I got a bunch of other nice cards as well:

A gift?  You shouldn’t have!

Inside the bag?  A delightful assortment of paper, stickers and craft goods.  I had to wait until everyone went home to roll around naked in them (!).

All in all, a great birthday for me!  Another year older and moldier *sigh*
